Stale Mate

Have you ever argued and gotten to a stalemate? In my small group, we were asked if our marriages ever ran into a stalemate. The problem was that I read it, stale mate. It got me thinking if I had ever been a stale mate. You know the kind, lackluster, no romance, nothing exciting anymore, and don’t even know it. Marriage can’t always be exciting and mysterious. In fact, as you grow older together, your love can grow deeper without the pizazz of youth. Half the time, I’m too tired for pizazz. But that doesn’t mean I should let it become stale.

The question is, what does it take to keep the relationship fresh? So I am on a quest for ideas to stay off the dreaded stale mate syndrome. Here are a few ideas that I came up with:

  1. Plan Regular Date Nights. …
  2. Say Thank You. …
  3. Surprise One Another. …
  4. Put Your Relationship First. …
  5. Treat Your Significant Other Like Your Friend. …
